donate old sewing notions?
I have lots of old patterns (all pieces are there); and sewing notions (zippers, seam and bias tapes, etc.) that I must do away with as I am getting old and no longer see well enough to sew. Are there any kinds of schools that would like these? I don't want to donate to the thrift stores, because I never see stuff like that at them, so I don't know that they would want them. Any suggestions?
If they're vintage patterns, they're worth something on the vintage market, or you might consider giving them to COPA: http://www.uri.edu/library/special_collections/COPA/
Some thrift stores do welcome vintage patterns and supplies, others toss anything like that they get. Inquire locally.
Many high schools with drama departments, little theaters and the like would love to get your patterns and notions. Local 4H groups with a sewing group, and the rummage sales that many ASG groups do to raise money for projects like Newborns in Need would also welcome them.
