Help with Buying a Best Toddler Leash.?
Hi,
I am traveling to Asian countries with my 2yr. I want to buy a toddler leash to keep him safe from busy areas like airports, malls, etc.
Can any one help me to find a best toddler shoulder leash with following requirements?
I am looking for leash with NO bag pack so he can remain wearing while he is seating in the seats like car and airplane and with NO Velcro stripes, where he can remove the shoulders Velcro strips by himself. I prefer to buy with locking BUCKLES with plastics only and of course with no recall.
Please help with your suggestions, website links, and info
Many thanks.
I know that you will get much scrutiny about putting your 'child' on a leash. but I think if you have a toddler that has a tendency to run off in a flash , it's better to be safe than sorry. I thought I saw one at baby's r us.. they may carry a variety. try diapers.com or other major baby stores,.. I don't know off my head but what I really want to suggest is to teach your toddler NOT to run off on you on impulse. You MUST teach him to check with you before he gets curious and just decide to walk away and suppress that urge to act on his own. Train him not to do it. Whenever he does it, you must reprimand him, perhaps with a quick swat on his wrists or buttocks (ie. spanking) to teach him that running off from you results in consequences. Not a light tap but it's gotta have an unpleasant sting that he would not want to experience again. a thin switch is best since it won't hurt or break him. You must do it every time until he gets it down. It's for his own safety. If you don't believe in spanking then make it a huge deal to put some scare in him. Yesterday my toddler crept up on me when I had the oven opened and almost touched the inside with her finger with a curious "whass that??" and fortunately I was quick enough to grab her hand away before she burned herself. I didn't spank her but I did 'freak out' (naturally) with a loud NO!!, telling her NEVER to come near the oven and it startled her quite a bit and she whimpered away. She didn't come back near the oven after that, played in the living room just fine, and she wasn't 'psychologically shaken' neither. but i was assured that she learned her lesson. but it may take a couple more of warnings before she stays away completely so I'll be on the watch always. The same was with when I was training her regarding playing near the plugs. Yes, they're plugged up with safety plugs, but since she started crawling she'd get a switch on her hand whenever she even put her finger on the outlet. Now, she doesn't even mess with them.
Until he's completely trained and old enough to know not to do that, I say you keep the leash (or strap) , especially in a high traffic, congested areas, or get a lightweight umbrella stroller. you can buy a cheap one maybe, there, at the site of travel, and leave it behind when u come home if it's a hassle to carry it back.
Nothing is worth losing your child in a car accident, or in the midst of all the craze/congestion. Happy travels!
